Dr. Moore is the principal investigator of the CoastLines project. He is also Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Science Approach and one of Science Approach's four founding members. Dr. Moore holds a Ph.D. in renewable natural resources studies and sociology from the University of Arizona; has an M.B.A. in accounting and human resources management from the University of Illinois, Chicago; and has a B.A. in biology from Southern Illinois University. He has served as the principal investigator (PI) on the following federally and privately funded projects: Visualizing Addiction (NIH/NIDA), Mapping an Ocean Sanctuary (NSF/Geoscience Education), Ocean Explorers (NSF/ITEST); Mapping Ocean Sanctuaries (National Geographic Society), Exploring Data with GIS to Experience Sanctuaries (NOAA), Consortium for Optics and Imaging Education (NSF/ATE); the Simplified Image Management and Processing Learning Environment for Science (SIMPLE Science) (NSF/NSDL), Powers of Inquiry (NIH/NIEHS), Visual Instruction Support for Inquiry-based Odysseys in the NASA Explorer Schools (VISIONES) (NASA), Volumetric Imaging Science for Instruction of an Open Nature (VISION) (NIH/NICHD), and NIH Biotechnologist (NIH/NLM). Dr. Moore is currently the evaluator for the Satellite Observations in Science Education project, a NASA-funded effort. He has taught environmental studies, human biology, environmental management, sociology, and outdoor recreation management at the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, and St. Lawrence University. He has served as the project director and evaluator for National Science Foundation programs in mathematics and science education, professional development for teachers, and development of minority participation in science careers. He also has conducted environmental and sociological research for the U.S. Department of Defense, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and the University of Arizona. |
